Introducing openDBL: Revolutionizing Building Management with a Digital Logbook
We are thrilled to announce the launch of openDBL, an innovative project funded by the European programme Horizon 2021–2027. With a budget of 4.5 million euros, openDBL aims to transform the way building information is managed and accessed through the development of a state-of-the-art "digital logbook." This groundbreaking initiative will streamline building maintenance, enhance data accessibility, and promote sustainable practices.
What is openDBL?
openDBL is a pioneering project that aims to create a comprehensive digital logbook for buildings. This digital logbook will serve as a centralized platform to store and manage various types of information, including structural details, maintenance records, and air quality data. The logbook will feature a smart access system, enabling remote access and real-time updates. By digitizing building information, openDBL seeks to simplify the workload of the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO) supply chain and revolutionize building management practices.
Objectives of openDBL
The primary objectives of openDBL are:
• Simplify the workload of the AECO supply chain: openDBL aims to streamline building information management processes, making it easier for professionals in the industry to access and update relevant data.
• Ensure usability and wide adoption: openDBL strives to create an integrated solution that is user-friendly, ensuring its wide adoption across the building management sector.
• Achieve economic viability: By offering value propositions and relevant market pricing, openDBL aims to establish its economic viability and sustainability in the market.
Project Details and Scope
The openDBL project, coordinated by CETMA (www.cetma.it), brings together a consortium of 13 partners from Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Romania, and Spain. It aims to revolutionize data collection, management, and interoperability for building maintenance. Pilot tests will be conducted in Ruvo di Puglia, Italy, where the focus is on an iconic building with limited documentation, enabling time savings and improved maintenance practices. In Kifissia, Greece, the project will integrate digital locks into the openDBL system, redefining design and installation processes for enhanced security and services, including the Town Hall. Mislata, Spain, will implement openDBL in the Casa Consistorial, optimizing facility management, predicting maintenance needs, and enhancing safety compliance. These pilot tests pave the way for standardized approaches and showcase the potential of openDBL in revolutionizing building maintenance practices across Europe.
